Elmwood Community Resource Centre (ECRC) is a community-based non-profit organization that provides programs and supports for children, youth, adults, and families in Winnipeg’s Elmwood community.
Project
As ECRC experienced continued growth in its programs, staffing, and operational responsibilities, ECRC and Bison Research & Development partnered to assess whether its organizational structure, leadership systems, and compensation framework remained aligned with its mission, values, and future needs. The review used a strengths-based approach that recognized ECRC’s strong leadership, community credibility, and organizational capacity while identifying opportunities to support its continued growth.
What We Did
We conducted a comprehensive organizational review, including an analysis of organizational documents, interviews with members of the leadership team, a compensation market analysis, and the development of recommendations related to leadership structure, organizational competencies, succession planning, and salary alignment.
Impact
Developed an evidence-based roadmap that builds on ECRC’s existing strengths and supports informed implementation
Identified opportunities to clarify leadership roles, distribute decision-making authority, and strengthen organizational systems
Established a foundation for equitable advancement, leadership development, and succession planning
Provided a revised compensation framework aligned with role scope, internal equity, and the Winnipeg non-profit market
Positioned ECRC to strengthen organizational resilience and sustain its community impact as it continues to grow
