Peace Arch Hospice Society—Community Needs Assessment

Bison Research & Development (formerly Jared Star Consulting) was engaged by Peace Arch Hospice Society (PAHS) to conduct a comprehensive community needs assessment to guide future service development. The multi-phase process combined document analysis, literature review, an environmental scan of 35 other hospice organizations, and extensive community engagement with over 140 participants, including staff, volunteers, clients, and equity-deserving communities.

Impact:

The final report highlighted gaps between PAHS’s current service reach and the shifting demographics of White Rock/South Surrey, particularly among ethnocultural and structurally vulnerable groups. A three-phase roadmap was developed—capacity building, relationship building, and program development—equipping PAHS with actionable steps to expand grief and bereavement services in culturally safe and equitable ways.
